The eligible undergraduate programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi under TIER-I category. NMAMIT has active collaborations with several international universities and organizations for faculty and student exchanges, research, internships and placements.

The sanctioned annual intake of students is 1440 for BTech and 319 for PG programs of MTech and MCA. NMAMIT has over 5000 students studying on the campus.

NMAMIT is located in a vibrant, serene and green campus at Nitte spread over 140 acres and is nestled in the Western Ghats of Southern India on the way to the Kudremukh ranges. The nearest airport is Mangaluru International Airport (45 km). The nearest railway stations are Udupi (40 km) and Mangaluru (50 km). Nitte is 19 km from NH-66 connecting Kochi (Kerala) and Panvel (Mumbai) and 7 km on NH-169 connecting Mangaluru and Solapur (Maharashtra).

About Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry has been playing a profound role in providing a strong basic foundation for undergraduate students. The Department is a hub of diverse research activities involving fundamental studies such as synthetic organic chemistry, polymers and nanomaterials for various applications such as corrosion, desalination, healthcare, sensors, energy and environment. The research center is funded by NDU and external national and international funding agencies (VGST, DBT, DST, UKIERI, SPARC, EU, and industries) and takes pride in delivering more than 200+ research articles in international journals of high quality and impact. We, at the Department of Chemistry, drive research and innovation to make meaningful contributions to science and society.

About CNMSE

The Centre for New Materials & Surface Engineering (CNMSE) was established in 2023 with financial support from NDU and is led by Prof. Santosh K. Tiwari. This center is equipped with cutting-edge research facilities and is dedicated to advancing research, teaching, and learning in the realm of carbon nanomaterials, with a particular focus on emerging nanosystems. Our primary objectives include developing innovative strategies for the large-scale synthesis and characterization of various new materials, notably graphite nanoplates, carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon quantum dots, MXene, boron nitride, inorganic fullerenes, and their diverse derivatives.

One of our key initiatives involves exploring environmentally sustainable practices for the synthesis of nanomaterials. We are committed to utilizing readily available resources, such as biomass waste, e-waste, and industrial waste, to produce these nanomaterials cost-effectively. Our research extends to the development of polymer nanocomposites tailored for extreme environments, including applications in industries such as oil and gas, aerospace, and defense. Our interdisciplinary approach aims to create durable and high-performance materials that can withstand the rigors of demanding operational conditions.

A flagship aim at our center is the transformation of seawater into potable water using advanced nanomaterials. This endeavor aligns with our vision of addressing global challenges related to water scarcity. Through the application of nanotechnology, we strive to develop efficient and sustainable methods for converting seawater into safe drinking water.

About SPARC
